The euro-project VON MAGNET launched in 2004 their
brand new musical venture : "De L'Aimant".
Once again proving that electronic music can be treated
with flaming passion and digital humanity.
Re-inventing again 20 years after the mythical concept-album
"El Sexo Sur-realista" (1987) their unique
self proclaimed Electro Flamenco style.
De L'Aimant is produced in Paris by the brilliant
sound designer Norscq
(Colder, Super Stoned, Black Sifichi, Atlas Project
).
Mimetic (electronics & percussions), Flore Magnet
(vocals & lyrics) and Phil Von (electronics, vocals,
lyrics & flamenco dance) collaborating for the
first time with flamenco guitar player Sabine Van
Den Oever.
After their 2001 "El Planeta", an album
which was travelling across sufi oriental trails,
the new De L'Aimant is "maximal magnetic",
entwining and embracing opposite poles :
technorganics, flamencotronics Warm + cold,
sweet + brutal, sadness + exaltation, flesh + machines,
masculine + feminine, wood + electrons, industrial
+ sensual, technology + poetry,
when expressionist vocals, feet percussions and flamenco
guitars meet with sampled textures and tricky computer
plug-ins.
Songs drawn from traditional andalusian rythms (Buleria,
Alegria, Fandango, Siguiriyas, Rumbas, Tangos ...
are suddenly exposed, futurized and mutated.
Here we witness an odd but yet exciting and highly
original musical recipe.
Cyber-sufis, flamenco-mutants, electro-nomads the
VON MAGNET's keep exploring the future roots of a
passionate multicultural wandering
in a mission to transcend.
Performance
Music composed by Phil Von
for Persona & Von Magnet
available
now on the label Thisco Records (Portugal)
price 10 euro / orders : www.thisco.net
For
more than a year Flore Magnet & Phil Von have
been writing and directing the performance "Deadline
Now" for & with the company Persona in Santa
Maria da Feira near Porto.
A "7 Sois, 7 Luas" production for the Imaginarius
festival.
"DEADLINE
NOW" is about "TIME", a contemporary
sad tale, the story of people existing in one of our
modern metropolis during 36 hours. They walk, they
run, they work, they phone, they step, they dream,
they stumble, they loop, they bug
Yet we are witnessing the absurdity of their tasks,
waiting for the appearance of signs of weaknesses,
of tenderness, of love even of simple humanity.
Have
you noticed lately how our perceptions of "time"
have been accelerating ?
Have you felt that fear of not being properly connected
?
The necessity of "being available" at any
moment
The urgency of everything or "the everything
urgent" syndrom.
Have you experienced yet the anxiety of inactiveness
?
As if "not doing anything" would mean "not
existing" anymore !
Nowadays we are being linked to the whole world in
a matter of seconds but somehow we have never been
so lonely.
To
portray the ambiance of such a modern "time dictature",
the music of Phil Von strikes as purely urban, electronic,
cold and ruled by a strict tempo code, the most common
and the most famous : 120 beats per minute.
This pulse is the master, the implacable reality of
a metronomic heartbeat which all the actors follow
throughout the performance
The "Von Magnetic" choreographic style will
only appear as they stamp their feet "live"
stubbornly Untill they find through exhaustion
and despair the poetry, the freedom or the craziness
towards a final exit to escape
Stretching "time" down to a universal wave
of silence.
